RB COMBINE NUMBERS AND NOTES: March 3, 2018: Saquon Barkley; just OUTSTANDING... no doubt first RB off the board at the draft and a 2018 fantasy football star, day-one... Barkley shined catching the ball and don't think NFL game planners won't get Barkley in space early and often this season... have a feeling 49ers could make a draft-day play for the Penn State star... Derrius Guice is a fave of mine, but his 40-time (4.49) is a surprise... Guice played most of 2017 hurt; look to 2016 tape for the real deal... Nyheim Hines did what I thought he'd do, burn the 40 with a RB-best 4.38... Hines measures (small) are a concern... I listed Ron Jones II 40-time at his estimated number (4.39) as he came up hamstrung in his first run at the Combine and posted 4.66; that is NOT Ron Jones folks... Lavon Coleman showed up trim at 215, but still he posted a mundane 4.6er... Georgia RBs are always beasts in the weight room; Chubb and Michel each topped 20 bench reps, with Michel pumping up 22 while Chubb crushed 29 reps... Akrum Wadley weighed in at 188 and has small hands to boot... Wasley sports good tape but his dimensions are yellow flags... Mark Walton; eh... Roc Thomas 40 failed to wow; good but not great... Ryan Nall broke tape at 4.58, and he was RB-smooth in getting there... Guice also carried his 224 well and silky in his 40-dash... Michel and Chubb both impressed, but Chubb looked a tad stiff in field drills... digging through the field drills and will have more notes on these backs later... hand and 10-splits yet to come and I will post them as I have them.
